How we verify

Every fact on this site carries a status, a source, and a date. This page explains what each status means and how a number earns its way onto a profile.

Where a fact can come from

  • Published by the community — the number appears on the community's own public website. We link to the exact page and record the day we saw it.
  • Supplied directly — community staff gave us the number in writing or by phone, on the record. We record who could confirm it and when.
  • Re-confirmed by us — we called or visited and confirmed a fact we already held.
  • State license record — for licensure we link straight to the Tennessee record. We never restate or interpret survey findings.
  • Google Places — ratings and review counts are Google's, shown with the date we checked and a link to the source. We never aggregate reviews into a score of our own.

What the freshness badge means

  • Verified within 7 days — shown with the weekday and date.
  • Verified within 30 days — shown with the date.
  • 31 to 90 days — shown as "Last verified N days ago." Treat it as directional.
  • Over 90 days — shown as "Not verified since [date]." Re-confirm by phone before relying on it.

What we will not publish

We do not estimate prices communities decline to disclose. We do not show a range "typical for the area" in place of a real number. We do not blur a price behind a contact form. When a community won't say, the profile says exactly that, along with the date we last asked.

When we get it wrong

Anyone — a family or a community — can dispute a fact. A disputed field is marked "correction under review" while we re-verify, and every resolved correction is logged publicly on the corrections page. We'd rather show our errors than pretend we don't make them.
